well friends, we've passed the historic date of sunday the 16th,
and lo and behold,
the shop is still open!
1. my dear customer, christine, has been pining and writing to me for months, and requesting batts and fibers and supplies like i used to provide in the shop before.
i told her i would just mail her some with her order, free of charge, but because my customers are amazing and christine is the sweetest, she insisted on being able to purchase them.
so- for her- (and to the benefit of all of you who perhaps missed the fiber batts of old!) i have created a custom listing for special freshly carded batts made to your specifications!
i do still card batts for my own use and have ample luxury fibers and colors to mix up some really special creations. i have always enjoyed dyeing and carding. i always explain it like this- dyeing is for mixing colors, carding is for mixing textures and they are beautiful when combined.
2. because of the way the world works (in mysterious ways!) - i was invited to participate in a trunk show at my local west elm to showcase my handmade products this saturday 3/22 in chicago from 1-6pm. and so, i decided it was serendipity and i would extend the shop closing for a final week.
i am super excited to be able to get out one last time to talk about the products in person and share the textures and just get to enjoy being a maker/entrepreneur.
i have had such a wonderful time in the creation of lai grai, the brand and the business, in the designing and fabrication.
it is simply just time for something new. and removing the shop feature from my website allows me the freedom to start to create outside the confines of salable materials- what could and would i make if it wasn't for "consumption"? big thoughts.
and perhaps fodder for another post blog to come :)
so last chance, my dear friends,
to buy online or shop in person (if you are local!)
i will still be making and crafting and dreaming up new designs,
just perhaps in different ways or in different mediums.
and i am always available for custom or freelance work,
just send me a message.
hopefully i will see you this weekend at west elm chicago!
all my love,
